Kanchana step down from his portfolio

Former Minister of Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekera, has stepped down from his ministry as of yesterday. In a statement posted on his Facebook page, he announced that he had handed over all government vehicles and assets in his possession.

Further elaborating, he stated that the country has adequate reserves of crude oil and coal, and that he is leaving the ministry after having strengthened its financial position.

Wijesekera also highlighted that all institutions in the country are currently functioning positively in some capacity. He emphasized that measures such as charging for services, making timely payments to suppliers, providing services to address outstanding debts, and contributing additional revenue to the Treasury have been implemented successfully.

He expressed his gratitude to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and extended thanks to all those who had supported him over the past two years.
